The world’s hardest game
It was a wild, memorable game on Wednesday night, and it cemented the Dodgers’ eighth World Series title. That ties the Giants for the fifth-most all time, behind only the Yankees (27), Cardinals (11), Red Sox (nine) and Athletics (nine).< https://nailsculptures.com/al-pacino-s-2024-net-worth-unveiling-the-hollywood-icon-s-riches/ /p>
The game ended with the Yankees winning 11-4. Shohei Ohtani had only one hit, a single. Holding on to his shoulder, Ohtani sprinted to second and nearly made it when Mookie Betts hit into a fielder’s choice. A healthy Ohtani would have likely reached the base with no problem, but the Dodgers’ superstar is not in top form right now. That will remain something to watch the rest of the series, however long it lasts.
The Dodgers lead the series 3-1 and even with Tuesday’s win and some momentum, New York has a long road ahead. No team has ever won the World Series after losing the first three games. Still, the Yankees took Game 4 with a dominant, hard-swinging win, and the World Series odds have tightened (a little).

To get on the board in the series, the Yankees will need much more than Schmidt. Aaron Judge, on the heels one of the best regular seasons of all-time, continues to struggle in the postseason. He’s 1-for-9 in the World Series with six strikeouts.

NEW YORK — Assuming the voting results for the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani and the Yankees’ Aaron Judge go as we expect them to go (hint: they will), this is only the seventh World Series to feature that season’s two MVPs.
The Yankees, meanwhile, are back in the World Series for the first time since their 2009 championship season. Aaron Boone’s team disposed of the No. 5 Kansas City Royals in five games before taking down the No. 2 Cleveland Guardians in five games for the AL pennant.
For the first time since 2020 (Dodgers vs. Rays), the two teams with the best records in each league will meet in the Fall Classic. The Yanks finished the year with an 84-68 record, winning the American League East by three games over the Baltimore Orioles. The Dodgers had the best record in baseball (98-64) and won the National League West by five games over the San Diego Padres.
World series game 4
It’s the advantage of having a 3-0 Series lead, the type no team has ever given up in the World Series. But it came at a cost. The Dodgers continued to chip away at their deficit, making this a two-run game going into the final three innings. But Brent Honeywell, probably the last reliever on their depth chart, checked in, gave up five runs in the eighth and turned this into a blowout. — Jorge Castillo
• Freeman has 10 RBIs this series, passing Gil Hodges (1956) and Duke Snider (1952) for most RBIs in a World Series in Dodgers history (RBI official since 1920). Snider and Hodges each had eight in seven games. This was Game 4. Freeman’s 10 RBIs are also the most in the first four games of a World Series, ahead of Tony Fernandez (1993), Bobby Richardson (1960) and Lou Gehrig (1928), who each had nine. Richardson’s 12 total that year is the record for a single World Series.
“Obviously, we’re in a tough position,” Cole had said prior to the 11-4 victory at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night, “but there’s a lot of baseball left to be played and anything can happen. We’re excited to get back out there. Hey, we’re still in the World Series. Hey, we’re in the Bronx. We’ve still got a shot at this thing.”
When Freeman connected with a Luis Gil slider in the first and punched it to the short porch in right for the two-run shot that made it 2-0, it was his fourth homer in as many games this series. He joined the Astros’ George Springer (2017) as the only players to go deep four games in a row within a single World Series, and he extended his personal World Series homer streak to a record-setting six games, dating back to 2021 with the Braves.
